Hello! I am Anthea Wood and I am an artist specialising in painting and printmaking.
I run Amwood Art from my welcoming studio near Wooler, Northumberland, creating paintings and original prints inspired by the local scenery. Oil paintings sit drying on the studio bench, while linoprints dangle from overhead, awaiting their next layer of ink.
Returning to art in later life has opened up my world. I am passionate about developing my own art whilst also supporting others in the creation of theirs.
I run Arty Footsteps - a Northumberland National Park Experience which encourages people to enjoy sketching and painting in the great outdoors. I believe that sketching is a pastime everyone can enjoy - it is a great way to be mindful and connect with our surroundings. In a fast paced world, taking the time to observe and create in the fresh air is an antidote to the stresses of modern day life. It is a portable, affordable and accessible hobby that is open to all - whatever your level of creativity.
I also enjoy running linoprint workshops in my welcoming studio - where consuming tea and cake is an important part of the process! I draw inspiration from my local Northumbrian community and surroundings and love sharing the joys of creativity with all ages. I run Inky Fingers art club for kids in Wooler as well as working on community initiatives in partnership with the Glendale Gateway Trust.
My works are on display at the wonderful Ingram Cafe in the heart of the beautiful Breamish and Ingram Valley, a great source of inspiration to me. I look forward to meeting you soon!
